International Business Development Manager Offline Retail (focus Europe)

Hours per week: 32 to 40 hrs
Location: Hilversum, The Netherlands

Are you a commercial hunter who gets energy from opening new markets and building physical retail distribution from scratch? Have you proven that you can successfully get brands onto the shop floor — and grow them there? Then we might be looking for you.

As International Business Development Manager Offline Retail, you will be responsible for actively establishing physical distribution in new (European) markets. You will hunt for opportunities, open doors and close deals. You will be in charge of the entire commercial process: from initial contact to a successful launch in the shop.

You will realise distribution through direct contracts with physical retail chains and/or through strategic partnerships with distributors with strong offline coverage.

Whatever the route, you are committed to achieving the results. Whatever it takes.

Role description

  • Opening new European markets with physical distribution points. Depending on local market dynamics, you define what the route to market is.
    • Actively identifying, approaching and convincing new retail and distribution partners.
    • Concluding commercial agreements (pricing, margins, volumes, contract terms)
    • Negotiating at senior level within retail organisations
  • Positioning and representing the brand to external partners
  • Setting out the lines internally to enable new customers to succeed operationally, commercially and in terms of marketing and category management
  • Continuously identifying and exploiting expansion opportunities within existing and new accounts and seeking scale, acceleration and growth in your markets

Who we are looking for

  • 8–10 years of experience in international business development
  • Proven success in opening new countries or retail channels for consumer brands (physical retail distribution); experience with both operating models (distributor vs direct retail)
  • Highly commercial, persuasive, results-driven, hands-on, entrepreneurial and self-starting
  • Not afraid of cold acquisition and complex negotiations
  • Strong in stakeholder management, both externally and internally
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage, proficiency in Dutch is not a requirement for this role
  • Experience with beauty retailers is considered as an advantage
